Salt Water Crocodile in captivity

Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory and has an estimated population of 73,300 (people - not crocodiles). It was called Palmerston until 1911, when it was renamed after Charles Darwin - the first European to discover the site in 1839.

The photo shows a Saltwater Crocodile in captivity. A few hundred of these are pulled from the Darwin harbour every year in an attempt to keep the place safer.
